IPL or the Indian Premier League is a time of festivities for cricket lovers across the world and especially India. There is huge support for the teams, noisy stadiums, joy for winners, sorrow for losers and colorful streets across the largest democracy in the world. Here is presenting a fabulous list of the “Meaning” and story behind the logos of the IPL teams. The logos used here are for representation purpose only & are a property of their respective teams.
Kolkata Knight Riders
Shah Rukh Khan owned KKR has the most vibrant and colorful jersey among all the franchises. The KKR team has had taglines as “All the King’s Men” and “New Dawn. New Knights”. The colors of the team jersey and logo signifies the following: Golden- spirit of life and Black – represents Goddess Kali. However the new purple color was introduced. The logo has a “knight” with his Viking helmet armor & the shield embosses “Kolkata Knight Riders”.
Mumbai Indians
The logo of the Mumbai Indians team is a razor as earlier the brand name was supposed to be Mumbai Razors. But it was legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar who suggested the name Mumbai Indians. The razor logo is blended with colors the Indian national flag i.e. saffron, white and green, alongwith the blue, which is the jersey color of Mumbai Indians.
Chennai Super Kings
The team CSK was named after the rulers of the Tamil Empire along with the India Cements’ brand “Coromandel King”. The logo of the golden roaring lion depicts the king of the jungle, with the crown having the team name Chennai Super Kings. Youth, vibrancy, solid performance orientation and fiery spirit are the things which the logo signifies.
Delhi Daredevils
The new logo of Delhi Daredevils depicts a “Flying Kite”, depicting the favorite pastime of the people of Delhi. It portrays the love of the game of the common Delhitie towards the game of cricket. Its shape and design resonates forward movement, energy, speed and accuracy. The previous logo of Delhi Daredevils showed a cricket ball on fire, showing the fighting and scorching spirit of the team.
Kings XI Punjab
The logo of KXIP has the lions, which show aggression, on the shield having the team name Kings XI Punjab . The shield depicts the power of character and fortitude of the conqueror - the qualities which each player of the KXIP possesses. Young, vibrant and ready to conquer the world – This is the message the logo highlights through its design. The KJHPH band in the logo represents J&K, Himachal, Punjab and Haryana and represents the spirit of the people of these regions.
Rajasthan Royals
As the brand name suggests the logo of the Rajasthan Royals has the letters RR written in a stylized format depicting royalty. The imperial and majestic design is again highlighted by the two lion buglers. The color blue is for the jersey which is also a part of the logo along with gold.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
The Hyderabad franchise has a very bold and strong logo, depicting an Eagle in the backdrop of the rising Sun. The idea behind this logo was to show that the team would take flight like an Eagle in the competition and will fight fiercely.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
RCB’s logo is embarked with the colors red and golden, like its team’s jersey colors. The logo has the RC emblem with Royal Challengers Bangalore written. The Royal Challenge is because of a top-selling beverage brand owned by Vijay Mallya.
Pune Warriors India
The logo of the PWI team is a tribute to the great Maratha warriors of the past. The logo depicts a stallion with a warrior carrying a spear. The silhouette of the warrior is over the tricolor, with the name “Pune Warriors India” above that. The logo also has the “Ashoka Chakra” in place of ‘O’.
