A booking number is a unique code which is special or specific to an individual reservation. It is also known as PNR Code, reference number, confirmation number or a record/booking locator. In case of shipping it is reservation number used by a cargo carrier or its agent.
It can be found on invoice of the reservation, the ticket containing the transportation or transit details or any other travel documentation. It is a number consisting of some specific fixed length with an arrangement that uniquely differentiates a reservation. It distinguishes the reservation uniquely from other reservations.
Although, it may sound as an array of some numerical digits from its name, but that is not necessarily so.
